Learn to Earn are a NPO based in Khayelitsha who offer skills development programmes that aim to “give a hand up – a hand out”. This is another organisation working in Khayelitsha that we believe are worth supporting.
Learn to Earn offers the following training courses at their Khayelitsha training centre:
- Bake for Profit
- Basic Computers
- Graphic Design Bridging Course
- Office Administration
- Sewing
- Woodwork
All Learn to Earn courses include a Life Skills module, as developing people’s life skills are an integral aspect of Learn to Earn’s mission to develop people holistically.
Some of the modules covered in the course are:
Self-awareness
Self-esteem
Family relationships
Conflict resolution
CV writing and Job Preparation
HIV/AIDS
Substance abuse
Following Learn to Earn’s viewpoint of ‘a hand up – not a hand out’ all students are required to pay towards the cost of their course at LtE. By paying a part of the fees for their training, students become contributing partners in their own development and have a greater sense of ownership in the change of their circumstances.
